The Coluors brand

What makes Coluors different?

Coluors is a modern, minimalist and ultra-pure beauty brand that combines innovative skincare science from Paris with Swedish simplicity and quality. And all characterized by the invisible colour ingredients that enrich the reds, blues and greens of Nordic plants — and deliver even richer benefits for your skin.

Importantly, all Coluors products are also safe, natural and vegan, and are freshly hand-made using organic and wildcrafted ingredients wherever possible.

Coluors’ approach — and what really sets the brand and its products apart — is based on these 5 foundational principles: Invisible Colour Ingredients, 100% Pure, Minimalist, Freshly Hand-made and Expressive Design.

What is Coluors Complex Selection?

Coluors makes use of compounds from colourful Nordic plants in its skincare products. The phytochemicals that help create these rich colours have beneficial properties. On top of which, the long Nordic summer days maximize sun hours for the plants, resulting in far higher levels of essential fatty acids and vitamin C – superior properties not found elsewhere in the world. Giving you all the vital benefits your skin longs for.

What does Coluors' development and production look like?

Coluors has a Swedish-French team of specialist cosmetic chemists, hand-picked for their extensive international experience and progressive mindset, including a commitment to purity. They have 30+ years combined experience developing natural, pure skincare formulations.

The team look to the latest scientific research and reports within skincare, and connect these findings with our expertise areas to develop new products. These are then freshly hand-made in Sweden and consciously produced in small batches.

When was Coluors launched?

Coluors was launched in the EU in November 2022. However, the R&D phase started in 2018/2019 with substantial concepts testing, a rigorous approval process and several iterations to boost the final product performance to its peak.

How does Coluors take responsibility for the environment?

Coluors gives 1,5% of all sales — with zero deductions — to The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. But, in addition, there is a wholescale commitment and a great deal of systematic work to do everything possible to reduce any negative impact and boost the positive impact of Coluors products in the wider world and on the global climate.

Coluors formulations and products

Are Coluors products tested on animals?

Never. Coluors never uses animal testing anywhere in its processes.

What is the shelf-life of Coluors products?

About 12 months, which is limited because only natural preservatives are used. Coluors tries to find a healthy balance between a reasonable shelf-life and safe, stable formulations with minimal preservatives.

Why aren't the products 100% organic?

Coluors makes products that are both effective and pure as top priorities, using a perfect blend of certified organic and wildcrafted ingredients. Organic certification means that an ingredient is grown on a certified farm, and wildcrafted means that the ingredient is harvested from its natural environment in the wild. So the Coluors ingredients that are not organic-certified are often as natural and environmentally friendly, and sometimes more when harvested direct from nature.

In addition, the formulations cannot reach 100% organic content because water, for example, occurs naturally and cannot be cultivated and organically certified. Water's percentage of the products is therefore not included in what is organic. However, Coluors use a vast majority of organic-certified ingredients, which is a lot more than the 10–20% organic content needed to certify a product as organic.

For your convenience, all organic, wildcrafted and plant-based ingredients can be identified by the asterisk symbol on the back of all product cartons.

Why are there ingredients that sound unnatural in the INCI?

Ingredients listed in the INCI of Coluors products can sometimes sound unnatural, and suggest they are synthetic or harmful. But Coluors only uses natural ingredients. Whatever the INCI number and names, these ingredients are extremely well selected, researched and very mild 100% natural substances used to make the product formulations more stable and effective.

Put simply, if it says Coluors on the packaging, you know that everything is natural, healthy, safe and well-balanced.

Are Coluors products vegan?

Coluors products are plant-based and contain zero animal or insect-derived ingredients. Coluors remain committed to animal protection on every level, including no use of animal by-products such as beeswax, honey, cochineal or lanolin, especially as they offer no extra benefit compared to plant-based ingredients.

Coluors is a minimalist brand. Why aren't there even fewer ingredients?

Colours could make product formulations with even fewer ingredients and have tested these during development. However, Coluors always strives for a perfectly balanced formula, which requires a number of ingredients to make it safe, durable and stable, in addition to the effectiveness of the active ingredients. So ingredients from different groups with different functions are needed to find the perfect balance between the minimal ingredients and maximum effect that are Coluors signature.

How do you treat logistics and environmental impact?

Coluors carries out systematic sustainability work so that no unnecessary transports are made. For example, Coluors always sources locally whenever possible and depending on the season.

Why are there no fragrances in the hydrating leave-in products?

Each hydrating product formulation is perfume-free with just a subtle hint of the natural extracts that it is built upon. Nothing more, nothing less.

Some of the cleanser rinse-off products for hand and body are lightly scented to refresh and re-energize your body and senses throughout the day. But, challenging the use of synthetic perfumes made in labs, these scents are based on 100% natural essential oils.
